Sha Lan and Trevor had been sent out to work together on a mission. It was a relatively simple task: get rid of a small cell of cultists who had embedded themselves in the chain of command of a nearby military installation. Sha Lan had simply observed for a while before sniffing out the cultists, then helped Trevor take them out in a relatively quick fight. Afterwards, she healed him and herself, and suggested they have dinner together to wind down from the fight. And so, currently, she's sat down at a table together with Trevor, looking through the menu with a smile on her face. "...I think I'll have a nice warm bowl of soba noodles. What about you, sir Trevor?"

With a small groan of the chair, Trevor got himself seated and began to look over the menu, adjusting himself just a few times before getting his jacket off, a few scraps likely still in the uniform "Oh please, I am not high ranking enough to need such formalities miss, just Trevor is fine" He chuckled out, a warm, youthful noise as he finally settled on his meal "Probably the stew and a good loaf of bread. Hardly a chance you get anything freshly baked out on the front" With a choice now made, he would put down the menu and look to his mission companion, having gotten to know somewhat what they are about, but still lacking the fuller picture "So...Might I come to ask where you learned to heal? Any particular divinity you are tied to?"

"Oh, my parents taught me! I draw my magic from the forces of nature, the blessings of my ancestral spirits, and the mystic power of the stars. Oh, and you can just call me Sha Lan, no need for 'miss'." She responds to Trevor, offering a simple, honest smile as she looks back at him. During their job, Trevor would've seen how she would make herself translucent yet luminous, starlike motes shining at her joints and connected by faint lines, as if she were a living constellation. This also extended to her fighting style - her quarterstaff could be made to glow the same way, infusing Sha Lan's strikes with starlight. "What about you, Trevor? Where did you train to get so good with a sword?"

He didn't quite understand what exactly she meant by the mystic power of the stars, but gathering powers from one's ancestors was a concept most dwarves could easily wrap their heads around, so he followed along somewhat, even if he still didn't fully understand how she fought the way she did "Ah well just standard militia training before I was sent off, the trainer said I had talent for a human so I suppose I merely lucked out on that matter...But well, the actual power comes from Berei, blessed be her name." He had no gesture of prayer nor specific words to invoke when speaking his god's name, a smile and uncowered palm was all he needed to show his appreciation "A dwarven god of endurance, she's the reason I am still up and about I suppose, beyond the wonderful people back home having given me aid"

"I see, interesting. Your trainer must've been quite skilled, and you must be truly devoted to your goddess for her to grant you her blessing!" Sha Lan says with a kind smile. "We have that kind devotion in common, I think - for our respective divinities, at least."
